Gunmen have killed five villagers and burned some houses at a village in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Bege Katuka, the Interim Management Committee Chairman of the local government spoke to newsmen on Friday in Kafanchan that the attackers stormed the village at about 4 pm. “Five persons were killed, while two others are still missing. A number of houses, including the new Police Outpost, were vandalised and burnt. We have urged the people to remain calm and have confidence in the security agents that have already secured the area, while investigation is ongoing,” he said. The village, where the incident occurred, borders Ryom Local Government Area of Plateau. A new policy alert released by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services under President Trump's administration, has cancelled automatic citizenship for the children of some US service members and US government employees living abroad and children of non-citizens born in the United States.  Under the new citizenship policy which will be effective from October 29 as announced on Wednesday August 28, US citizens who gave birth to their children abroad are expected to apply for U.S. citizenship ahead of the child's 18th birthday.  Non-citizens are also expected to stay for at least 6 weeks in the US before their children born in the country will be considered citizens.  “Effective October 29, 2019, children residing abroad with their U.S. citizen parents who are U.S. government employees or members of the U.S. armed forces stationed abroad are not considered to be residing in the United States for acquisition of citizenship,” the policy read. “Similarly, leave taken in the Unite

The album called 'Jesus Is King' was originally supposed to be called ' Yandhi ' and released in October of last year, but was pushed back to the end of November.    The 38-year-old reality star and mother of four also announced that the release date of the album with 12 tracks will be September 27.

Three final year students of the Faculty of Law, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria have been kidnapped on Abuja-Kaduna expressway. The students were said to be on their way to school when the vehicle they were traveling in, was attacked by their abductors. The Abuja-Kaduna road is notorious for being a flash-point of kidnappings. Recall that the chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Abubakar Mahmood, and his daughter were kidnapped on the same road in April.

The Federal Government has alleged that the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, has the sole aim of establishing an Islamic State in Nigeria.   The government also said the cleric had the full support of the Iranian government to achieve this aim. The government made these claims in a counter-affidavit it filed against IMN’s motion challenging the Federal High Court’s order of July 26 proscribing the group.   Justice Nkeonye Maha of the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court who issued the proscription order, on Wednesday, fixed September 11 for the hearing of the motion filed on behalf of the IMN by Mr. Femi Falana (SAN).

Barely 24 hours after the US authorities increased the cost of visa application for Nigerians under a tit for tat policy, FG has announced a reduction in the amount payable by citizens of the U.S seeking Nigerian visas. The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, said the FG has approved a reduction in visa charges payable by United States citizens from $180 to $150. In a statement, the US consulate in Nigeria had said America was “reciprocating” the extra visa fee the Nigerian government charges its citizens. The consulate had explained that the extra cost would be applicable to only those whose visa requests were granted. It had said while America charges Nigerians $160 for visa application, its citizens seeking Nigerian visa were paying $110 extra. The U.S. State Department said the visa fees were increased after 18 months of consultation with the Nigerian government, to make its visa fees for Americans proportional, failed.
