The  Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development  has released a new age classification in Nigeria. At the launch of the Revised National Youth Policy, 2019 which took place in Akure, Ondo State on May 24th, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, in a foreword presented at the launch, disclosed that the age bracket for the classification of youth in Nigeria has been reviewed downward from 18 – 35 years to 15 – 29 years. Dalung in his foreword, stated that the age classification had to be reviewed downward so that every federal government intervention programmes designed for youths will get to the youths themselves and not adults masquerading as youth. According to the Minimum Age Convention (1973), the general minimum age for admission to employment or work in Nigeria is 15 years. The United Nations defines ‘youth’ as persons between the ages of 15 and 24 years.

Embattled musician, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley who is currently in detention has granted an interview saying he has two wives and four children who are all British citizens. He said he is not a criminal and has no idea what the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission found on his laptop. Naira Marley, 28, said apart from storing his songs and music videos, he had never done anything illegal with his laptop.   He said this in his statement on oath which he made while in EFCC custody, which was obtained exclusively by Punch where he said; “My name is Azeez Fashola. Regina Daniels' father has lamented about the wedding of his daughter which held in Delta state today without his consent. In an audio recording obtained by LIB, Jude Ojeogwu, a lawyer residing in Lagos, said it is wrong for billionaire politician Ned Nwoko, 59, to marry his 20-year-old daughter without his consent.  He added that he is upset by the harsh comments going around about him being an absentee father but said what hurts most are the comments from people claiming he's dead or will be better off dead. He went on to address Ned Nwoko and said that as a father with multiple kids, he should follow due process before marrying his daughter.

The Lagos zonal office of EFCC have arrested the proprietor of a '' Yahoo Yahoo '' training school in Lagos,  Frank Chinedu. Chinedu, 22, was arrested alongside eight students of the unnamed training centre located at 14, Animashaun Street, Progressive Estate, Ojodu Berger, Lagos, while receiving lectures in internet fraud activities. The students are: Ahmed Musa, 24; Desmond Eze, 29; Preye Kingsley, 23; Benjamin Irabor, 21; Benjamin Opah, 19; Akapo Prosper, 22; Innocent Paul, 20 and Olamide Edun, 20. The suspected internet fraudsters were arrested under cover on May 22, 2019, following intelligence reports received by the Commission about their involvement in alleged criminal activities. Items recovered from the suspects at the point of arrest include nine laptops, 16 mobile phones, an Airtel modem, Orange Wifi and one Toyota Camry with registration number EPE406FN. The suspects will soon be charged to court.
